Quindici Trenta 1530
These are the products of the Il Palagio estate owned by the singer Sting Not only collectible wines, but also spectacular flavours.
There are four wines from Tenuta Il Palagio, the protagonists of the new enological itinerary designed by Riccardo Cotarella. We are talking about the novelties offered by the Valdarno winery owned since 1997 by Sting and his wife Trudie Styler, 13 hectares of vineyards, which, precisely with the arrival of the Lazio winemaker, is redesigning its label portfolio, after selling as bulk wine all products made before this change to technical guidance. A change that does not question the basic philosophy of the couple of British artists, for whom table and wine are one, accompanied by the art of welcoming and the beauty of the Tuscan countryside. At stake now are a white wine, a rosé wine and two reds.
On the one hand, we could put the more fragrant “Baci sulla Bocca”, 100% Vermentino, and the rosé “New Day”, based on Sangiovese, and on the other the more complex, also because they are aged in both large and small wood, the Chianti “Duchessa” Riserva and the Toscana Igt Rosso “1530”, a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, the object of our tasting.
Aged in barriques for 12 months, the 2019 vintage tastes of blackberries and juniper, medicinal herbs and tobacco, tomato leaf and marked aromas of spices, especially cinnamon and licorice. Finally, there is also a hint of goudron. The sip has volume, well balanced between softness, flavor and tannins, with a long and intense finish in flavors.
